park

We were going to the park every evening for a little while and I hope that we can do that again soon (but it suppose to rain this week). Big A likes to play baseball with his dad while the other 2 are very content to play on the playground and I enjoy reading outside, not intently as #3 likes to follow dogs and other animals on the bike trail.

these 2 LOVE to swing

It got too dark for baseball so on to the playground.

T-ball

Our first T-ball practice and game. I stayed home with toddler i getting the snack ready and not really wanting to chase him around all practice and then through the game too.

He ate a granola bar.
Then was being a little bashful after I took the last photo.
Thinking he was going to get away with looking like that but he got "cleaned up," well the best you can get cleaned at a baseball field.
Up to bat.
Waiting on the bench, notice the Transformers band-aid. This was post stitches, pre-dermabond.
Up to bat.
Second base, after giving me a thumb's up.
After giving the other team 5.

Disneyland

I can't remember why we went to Disneyland this trip. Maybe we met Jill there but there aren't any photos of Jill. Jill were you here? We are in need of a trip to Disneyland. For sure we are going a week from Wednesday with Jill. Anyone else want to come?

No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

I have more posts that go chronically before this one but I thought this needed to be documented while it is fresh in my mind. This is a LONG post because it is for me.

My mom was great enough to come get the boys on Thursday, since Big A was out of school for Spring Break and she wasn't scheduled to work Thursday or Friday. Bryan and I went to T-ball orientation on Saturday morning and then the plan was to go relieve Katie of being responsible for the boys on Saturday morning (since both my parents were working). We were planning on spending the day and evening there and then heading back to our house about the boys' bedtime- so I did NOT pack anything for Bryan and me. As were we getting ready to go home, I am in the kitchen about to get Katie some water when my mom says, in a tone that I am needed quickly but not panicked, "Karin. Karin." I quickly head towards the bathroom where I know toddler i is and Lil A is crying. I was thinking, "oh, great, i bit Lil A." I was very wrong. I saw the blood on his hand and my mom had tissue or something up to his forehead to help with the bleeding. I hollered for Bryan, he picked up Lil A. I grabbed a booster out of our car and we headed to the Emergency Department in my mom's car. To calm him down, I sat in the back holding paper towels to his forehead so he could have 2 hands to play Pocket God and Pocket Devil. When we got on the freeway, I called my parents' house to request that the other boys be put to bed, which was already happening of course but still I felt like I needed to call since I just ran out the door leaving 2 boys behind.
When we arrived there, Bryan carried Lil A in and I parked the car, being 8 months pregnant, I thought that arrangement worked best. Every worker asked us what happened, which I expect but after every person would ask, I would turn to Lil A and say "And are you going to do it again?" A very serious "NO." was always the response. After waiting a couple minutes, we were taken to our room, where the nurse cleaned the wound a little bit and had him lying down. Then the doctor came and looked at him. Then we waited a while, not as long as we could have but long enough to need to take a lot of photos for entertainment.
During the trip, we found out what happened. He had stacked blankets and pillows and was falling on top of them. In his words, "pillows and blankets really high and then my belly would land on them." But the problem was that this was on a futon with solid wood armrests, so yes his belly was landing on the pillows and blankets but his head hit the armrests and he had a huge gash in his forehead. Bryan inspected closer than I did and saw bone.
He was a great patient. They did have someone come in to hold his head still while he got the shots (between 5 and 10 injections) of lidocaine to numb the area. I held his hands. The doctor called the injections of lidocaine "mosquito bites" and Lil A says the mosquito bites were the worst. He has 7 stitches and got a smoothie from Jack in the Box for being so good while he got worked on.

He was practicing being asleep. That is what I suggested he do when they were working on him.

We started taking a lot of photos to entertain us while we waiting.
He took this of Bryan with giving the instructions to "be really happy Daddy."
He wanted to take one with both of us.
This was right after they were done. The white cloth next to him has a hole in it where the doctor worked on the wound so the lights were a little bright when it was removed, plus he was "sleeping" while he worked. Oh, the doctor kept calling him "boss" which I enjoyed.

This is my favorite photo of the whole series. He likes it because his stitches are "shiny."
He gets to wear a band-aid with airing it out a little but keeping the scar out of the sun for the next while. I am a little worried about T-ball, first practice and game are on Saturday, not even 24 hours after he gets the stitches out. Hopefully we won't be making many trips like this one but with soon-to-be 4 boys it is inevitable.

Since we didn't get back to my parents' house until late, pretty close to midnight, we stayed the night and went to church there. I spent the rest of the day/evening on the couch, way too much activity/stress over the past few days and my body decided it couldn't handle it anymore. I am grateful that it happened while we were around family so I didn't worry about the uninjured boys.

Another Class Celebration

Big A's class had a performance and cupcakes after for Presidents' and Valentine's Days. It was wonderful. I really enjoy seeing the kids perform. I have a couple songs that I recorded. My mom came, it was great to have her there. I have one photo of #3 but I know my mom has better ones, but he was there, in his toddler-ness.

Bryan's Birthday

We went to Disneyland for Bryan's birthday (I know surprise, surprise). We only went to California Adventures because by the time we were done there, I couldn't walk any more. We went on Toy Story, Bryan's favorite ride. We went to Brother Bear and the boys did the zipline thing that they had never done before. My camera died after I took the photo of Lil A on it.

gum

In honor of Matt's birthday, I thought this post was appropriate. Happy Birthday Matt!

I have never really been a big fan of gum for my kids. I enjoy gum for myself for a few minutes and then I am bored with it. Apparently, I passed that on to my children. He did not get to have gum for a long time after this.

For my own memory, we had just gotten to Target with my mom, Ann and her kids. I had scissors in my car prior to this but before we went to my parents' house, I cleaned out the car and took the scissors back inside where they really belong. I tried to cut it out with a big pocket knife but it was scary for him, so after 2 attempts, I stopped. I put a paper towel over the gum and had him wear his hood into Target. And then after that he couldn't decide if he wanted to go with Ann back to my parents' house or go with me to Sam's Club- I made him go with me. I cut it out when we got back to my parents' house and that encouraged hair cuts for the boys.

Lil A's Hat

Happy (fake) Birthday to Papa (aka my dad)!

Lil A loves going to Speech. I love him going to Speech. I think he speaks more clearly now with the help from Ms. Sylvia than if I thought "he will out grow this." He does the cutest artwork/crafts while he is there.

All 3 boys needed to be in a photo with him wearing it.

Matt's Glasses

We found these glasses when we were selling Jill's car and made the boys (and me) think of Matt.

Not wanting to wear the glasses but wanted his photo taken, "cheese."

Thumbs up for Matt.

They were doing poses in honor of Matt.

Finally, he wore them.

Even Bryan got in on the fun.

Now the photo is complete with the youngest in the photo.

My Breakfast (currently)

Lately, I have been on a sausage, egg and cheese english muffin sandwich kick. I go in spurts with things but I have been on this one for a while. I don't have it every day but pretty close. I ran out of sausage last week and tried to have it without the sausage, it just wasn't the same. I didn't realize how much I was having it until my oldest pointed out today, "You have that every day Mom."

A few reasons why I like it, I don't snack as much, I am not starving if I have PB crackers for lunch and I remember to take my vitamin.

I think this is the first posting of a few. I think I need some photos from other people since I cannot seem to take any right now and really the view from the couch, it not very good and the lighting is not great either.

Class Christmas Party

Big A had another class party. I took the younger boys because we were planning on going to Lake Arrowhead right after school. That morning I was ambitious, woke up earlier than usual to make Sweet Rolls for Big A's teachers. I was making them and was getting ahead when I realized I didn't have enough powdered sugar for the frosting. I still needed to make 4 graham cracker gingerbread houses and turkey sandwiches for the party. I got the rolls out of the oven, got everything including big A to school, ran to the store for the powdered sugar, ran home, made frosting, frosted the rolls, got back to school for the party- all with the 2 younger boys in tow. Big A has great teachers. They offered for the younger boys to participate in the activites, I said Lil A could but toddler i needed to stay in the stroller. Lil A did a great job with the pin art, I think he will do fine in Kindergarten next year.
