We decided to decorate a gingerbread house this year and start it as a tradition. I have decided this is going to be a hard tradition with a 2yo that LOVES candy. It was torture for him not to eat the candy, even though he was promised candy when we were done. He licked one and I caught him before he could put it back in the bowl, so he got one. A little while later, he tried it again but I caught him and
made him eat it. Then Big A started sneaking candy but by then we were almost done decorating so I gave them a couple pieces each. While Bryan and I assembled the house (we decorated then assembled), I turned on Polar Express with promises of Hot Chocolate when we were done. Lil A keeps telling me "house" and I keep telling him "you can eat it later." We decided after making it and seeing how hard it was for them to keep their hands off it during the photo shoot that we would let them eat a little bit at a time (starting in a week though). I am glad Bryan decided that we needed the kit because it was a lot just keeping the candy out of mouths, I can't imagine if I had made the gingerbread too. I am more impressed with my mom all the time.
*Sorry about the lack of postings lately but I have been reading Twilight and New Moon and y'all are lucky I didn't get Eclipse or else I would be doing these posts later.

Are your boys nakey so the sticky is easier to take care of?
This is really cute, btw.
How fun...that would last all of two seconds at house!! Remind me to give you eclipse...it is so good and worth a blog vacation!!
B is anxiously waiting to make one of those with my mom. We've started it as a tradition, too. Good job decorating! ;)
You really did a great job! My first one last year didn't come close to yours. As people began nibbling it didn't really matter. It is fun!
We decorate gingerbread houses every year, but we are bad we eat while we decorate. Your boys are impressive, your house looks great, ours are usually leaning to one side and very messy! Hey have you ever seen the house's from that gingerbread house contest each year. I always enjoy looking at the winners online. www.goldilocks.ca/press-awards.htm
Great job decorating. My only experience making a gingerbread house is with graham crackers.
I saw a gingerbread kit at the grocery store yesterday and thought, "That would be fun to do!" OK...then I thought again.......! But, you little boys look so happy and your little house is really cute. I think it looks like a fun tradition!!
We decorated them growing up and I always loved it, it makes me want to start doing them again, it looks great!!! Who wouldn't eat all the candy that is the best part of the whole thing. I didn't like eclipse as much as the other 2 you will have to tell me what you thought. I will tell you why I didn't like it after you read it.
Cute House!!
Cute! And I need to borrow New Moon when we are there for Christmas.
Cute pictures! I love gingerbread houses. Ours never turn out as symmetrical as yours though, my boys like to take control of the decorating. I LOVED the Twilight series- I just finished the third book and I can't wait for the next one to come out!
I love the icicles on the house! (sp?)
That is such a cute idea. I love it. Since we will be alone for Christmas this year we are trying to do new things and create new traditions! Thanks for the idea!
