Park with Friends

Last month we went to the park and I only took a few photos, Abby took some and posted on her blog. The boys love this crazy slide that knocks them around and I HATE it! I think they are going to get hurt every time they go down. The next day I went to the hospital (just so I remember) and Jill took the boys to Disneyland with Beebe and Con.

I Miss Disneyland (Already)

The Wednesday before I went to the hospital, we went to Disneyland. We met up with a few friends and had Kelly & Brody ride with us. Big A tried to talk to him the whole way there- I am not sure how he responded but Big A kept talking. We went on Small World and it is closed for 10 months now for renovations. We had a great time, I just wish I had gotten the camera out more, the boys don't let me take their photo on Small World.

A little surprised but not really

Bryan said "it should have said 14 or 15."

You Act Like You Are 35 Years Old

You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!
You're responsible, wise, and have enough experience to understand a lot of the world.

You're at the point in your life where you understand yourself pretty well.
You are figuring out what you want... and how to get it!

Weekend with Papa Brown

Papa Brown came down a few weeks ago to watch the boys so we could attend the adult session of Stake Conference. I am so glad he did because I didn't get to hear much the next day because one certain little boy needed to be entertained in order for everyone around us to be able to enjoy the meeting. Plus we had In-N-Out before the adult session, it was great to able to socialize (and eat) with people in the ward that we don't always get to chat with.

Friday night we went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. Saturday we went to some tide pools and some of us got a little wet because of a "rogue wave" but it was still fun and the flowers were beautiful (we took more photos of flowers but figured the boys were more popular than flowers). In order for the boys to sit on the rock to take some photos, I asked who wanted candy, Lil A's response "Me Do!"

"Boy Game"

Big A has started playing Zelda on Matt's Game Boy but calls it "Boy Game." Lil A thought he would keep him company under the end table at Ga & Papa's house a few weekends ago but he had a flashlight to play with.

*I have gone through the photos and realized I have about 5 more posts- so this is progress.

So I Am LAME...

I realize I have not done a "real" post in a long time but I have good reasons. I have a post in my head already planned out but have not scanned something that I wanted to post. I am not doing very much these days that is blog-worthy and taking photos of said unworthy activities has not been happening.

But the boys are doing funny and great things everyday that I am forgetting about because I am not blogging. So I guess I might as well do a run down of what is going on so that I can start posting regularly.

I am pregnant, I am having a boy and am due the beginning of May. Some of you knew already but most don't know that I am unofficially on bed rest (I did go to Target today but am planning on spending the rest of the day on the couch or in bed). On Friday the 18th, I woke up to contractions but I wasn't sure if they were contractions or not because I am not that far along. After several hours, we went to the hospital and Jill was great enough to take the boys to Disneyland for me. After spending all afternoon and early evening at the hospital, I was able to go home with the understanding that I would be "taking it easy, putting my feet up several times a day and drinking lots of water." I went for an appointment on Wed and the doctor told me the same thing and said I cannot go to Disneyland for 9 weeks (unless I am in a wheelchair or promise to spend only 2 hours with resting- but would prefer me to not go at all). I had to be released from Nursery which has been the hardest thing.

So now that I have come clean, I will try to be a better at posting but no promises. I really do have some cute photos on the camera that I should blog about before I forget the stories behind the photos.

Internet Photos

Just a safety reminder about photos on the Internet. I am not going to stop posting photos just yet but I might make the blog Private but not yet- I am lazy and don't have everyone's email addresses, not that it is hard to request everyone's email address.

So if you want access to my blog in the undecided future and you don't think that we have your email, please make sure we get it (this is me asking for email addresses).

Am I Smarter Than A Statistician?

Since my kids are under the weather today, we are stuck at home instead of going to Disneyland. It has been WEEKS since we have been there and it is really hard for me to not throw them in the car and just go. But I want to still love Disneyland and if I have to deal with nastiness there it will not be the happiest place on earth.

So after checking Em's blog, I checked mine.

Christmas 2007 to New Year's

Christmas morning was interesting. The wind had been blowing and we woke up as the power went out a little after 7am. Lil A was not too excited about being woken up and needed a piece of candy before he would even glance at his stocking and the things Santa brought for them. They loved everything they got but then had a hard time wanting to open presents. We had to keep calling all the boys back to open a gift. The chalkboard from Ga and Papa made by my Grandpa was a huge hit. H was so cute not really opening his gifts and riding in a box pushed by Big A. With no power, our Christmas breakfast was a little bit of a challenge but with the grill and lighting the stove with a match, we had a great breakfast- we had our sweet rolls that night after the power came back on. Christmas naps were wonderful, I wish I got those all year long and the power was on when we woke up. We drove home late that night after games.

C came over to our place Thursday afternoon to spend the night and then ride with us back to my parents' house on Friday. Friday was fun watching the boys run around but I wanted to go to "Old Lady" to return stuff and to go to Target to check out the Christmas stuff that was on clearance- yes I took 3 active boys (under the age of 4) by myself! But they were pretty good and I got the Train stocking holder for $12.50! and a lot of candy that they picked out for 50% off.

Ann and her family decided to come early to my parents' house and C needed to see his parents, so we headed back there when Bryan got home from work. Sunday morning we came back to RSM for church and then Monday afternoon we headed back to my parents' to ring in the New Year with everyone. After being put to bed at 9pm my boys thought it would be fun to play until after 11pm but then Lil A got hurt, he put his finger in a box fan (the photos are the next morning when we were changing his band-aid). We played a "wild" game of Boogle and my nephew Big D was the only kid allowed to stay up to bang pots and pans with Matt, Taylor, Brendan and Mike. New Year's Day was filled with football (of course) and Bryan smoked ribs and turkey again, Jill made a wonderful salad (that I am craving right now but since we have not been home, I have not been to the grocery store). We drove home late (again) after I kicked Bryan's butt on Guitar Hero III (even when we were both doing Medium on Pro-Face-Off).

Pre-Christmas and Christmas Eve 2007

We were at my parents' house from Saturday afternoon to Christmas night. The fun began soon after we got there. Emily and her family were there from North Carolina and Beebe and her family were there from Nor Cal (they drove through the night so her husband could watch the Vegas Bowl with Bryan and my Dad). Bryan smoked ribs and turkey (which is why we look forward to football games) and my sisters did the sides.

For Christmas Eve we have a "Mexican Fiesta" and reenact a brief (toddler) version of the Nativity. The Elders from my mom's ward and from the YSA ward were over for dinner and made wonderful sheep. The 3 little boys were the Wise Men, my Dad was the narrator, Em & AJ were Mary & Joseph (H was sleeping so he missed being baby Jesus), Mom,Jill, Matt and Ryan were shepherds, Mike was a donkey (I think), Tyler was the Star, I was the angel, Bryan and Beebe were shepherd to the Wise Men (Katie was at work and missed it all). When we were done, we loaded up into cars and took off to some neighborhood near Rancho Cucuamonga that is FABULOUSLY decorated with lights. We had a bit of excitement before we reached our destination, Beebe ran out of gas but had Tyler, Jill and Ryan in with her and us right behind them. The gas station was up a little hill, so when it wouldn't roll anymore- the 3 passengers in their car jumped out and started pushing and Bryan & I jumped out (but I jumped into the driver's seat). I got C and Lil A out of our car (falling asleep) to get candy. We got to the lights with a little confusion but it was worth it. But after walking for a while, a few of us needed to use the bathroom, Tyler being the non-shy guy he is, asked someone outside of their house where the closest public restroom was. The man offered his house (which we were EXTREMELY GRATEFUL for) and gave Big A a bag of popcorn (people stand outside their houses with popcorn machines, coffee, hot chocolate, tamales for sale). We wished we had brought our wallets so we could have paid for the popcorn (and the bathroom). I don't have any photos from the lights but I know some were taken.

Rootbeer

My brother-in-law has started a blog all about rootbeer. And not just any rootbeer, fancy rootbeer. Every New Year's Eve, he takes his kids to BevMo and they get to pick out their fancy root beer. This New Year's though they were at my parents' house and had intentions of going but never made it. My sister assured me that they would go sometime when we they get back home. Interested to know more about rootbeer? Check out his blog and leaving comments let's people know you have visited their blog (just a reminder, not a requirement).

After the Brown Christmas Party, we headed up to Lake Arrowhead to have Christmas morning with the Browns. Bryan's parents are spending the holidays with his sister that lives in Iowa, so we had Christmas morning with them a little early. We had Bryan's sister this year in the gift exchange and she had us (convenient right?). The boys got the fire engine & police car and a football & soccer ball from Nannie and Papa Brown and a Thomas the Train Aqua Doodle from his cousins. The blanket we (Bryan helped pick it out and make it) made for Kim's family is on Jacob's lap in the photo above. We had a wonderful breakfast and I decided that Blueberry Blintz is a favorite food because I good size portion when I was already full and it was DELICIOUS (not that this was my first time having it but still it was great). We all headed out about the same time, Kim was having "half the ward over to watch the Vegas Bowl" and Bryan's parents were headed to Vegas to see Bryan's aunt before they flew to Iowa Sunday afternoon. It was a great fake Christmas.

Brown Christmas Party 2007

We went to the Brown Christmas party the Friday before Christmas. Not even half of the Browns were there. Bryan's sister and Bryan were the only siblings from his family there, it would have been great if all his siblings and their families would have been able to make it. But we had a great time with the group of people that were there. There are a few things that always happen at the party: good food, pinatas for the kids, White Elephant, and Santa.

Disney Christmas Lights

We went to Disneyland last Friday and it was a little colder than we like and a lot more crowded than we like but we still enjoyed ourselves. The boys love seeing the lights and it was fun to meet up with Papa and Mike. We got there, we had to wait in line in the parking structure! We decided to go to It's A Small World first. We got in line in front of the Toy Shoppe (for those you familiar with that area) toward Toon Town. I thought "no big deal, the arch way that normally starts the line is right there." Wrong. We looped up towards Matterhorn but we were only in line for 17 minutes and the boys love all the lights and the show that plays on the outside of It's A Small World. They love the Christmas songs that play during the ride (instead of the usual song, they have it decorated for Christmas).
We meet Papa and Mike outside the Castle, where they had saved some space for us to watch the firework show. I brought a blanket and some Chex Mix but we were told we were not allowed to sit down because we were technically in the street. The show was great until it was cut short because of wind. We went on Buzz and tried to go on Haunted Mansion but the line was way too long for us, so Papa and Mike headed home and we watched Fantasmic before we headed home. We LOVE Disneyland.
Oh, we are planning on going back the second week in Jan. for those interested, hopefully it won't be as crowded.

Free Diaper Bag!

Emily posted about a free diaper bag contest on her blog because one request is that you link the contest on your own blog. I want the frog one too (sorry Em).
If I don't win this contest, I want this diaper bag instead (and Bryan would have to make some serious money).

I am planning on posting Disney photos soon, please be patient with me. I have a another post but can't do it until I get to my parents' house (they have a scanner). I figure if I promise posts, you will come back (I know wishful thinking on my part).

Thanks Papa!

I love when CSU gets out of classes, it makes my Dad available to watch the boys when I desperately need him too. Last week, Papa came down in the afternoon, played with the boys, had dinner and then we went with him to his house. Tuesday night, he came down, spent the night so he was able to watch the boys at 7:45AM!!! Of course the boys couldn't fall asleep until they saw that Papa made it safely here. A little before 6, Papa brought Lil A in, with Big A following close behind. They had a great morning, taking "shortcuts" to Papa's truck and making a car out of a box. Papa left for a meeting when I got back and all afternoon Big A kept asking "where Papa at?" after I answered, he responded with "but why?" This is a nice plus to being so close. I will be posting photos from Disneyland (Mike & Dad met us there) on Friday.

WICKED!

In celebration of my mom's birthday, we went to Wicked! I have been wanting to go for over a year now and was glad I got to see it with the group I did. We started our evening by going to dinner, my brother Matt agreed to watch the boys that night so we could go (Thanks again Matt), so Matt took the boys back home after dinner and we headed to LA. We had given ourselves plenty of time to get to Pantages but after we hit some traffic, we arrived with about 20 minutes before the play started. I thought we had pretty good seats, even though Mom and I sat behind some puffy hair ladies, which made our view a little blocked. Dad laughed through most of it. On the way home, we stopped at an AM/PM for hot chocolate- Mike got a soda, even though it was freezing outside. When we got to Mom & Dad's, Matt had the boys in bed asleep. It was a great evening, thanks to Jill for planning it, Mom for having a birthday, Dad for dinner, and Matt for taking care of the boys so I didn't worry about them at all the whole night.

Christmas Quiz

Tis the Season to have a little fun! Feel free to post this quiz on your own blog to spread some Holiday info about yourself.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper because bags make peeking easier but bags make wrapping easier.

2. Real tree or artificial? I love the smell of the real ones, but a fake one is more practical with kids and fires and they last way longer. I have been hanging real wreaths for the smell.

3. When do you put up the tree? FHE after Thanksgiving.

4. When do you take your tree down? A few days after Christmas (2 years ago it was after New Year's because I was still in CA and our fake tree was set up in Texas).

5. Do you like eggnog? NO! I drink chocolate milk instead of plain milk.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? That's tough. Bike probably but really I don't remember stuff like that. I remember more about what people were there- like the one Christmas with Robin (family- y'all know who I am referring to).

7. Do you have a nativity scene? I am waiting for my Little People one to come- I ordered it Friday (it was finally on sale).

8. Hardest person to buy for? From my family, Jill because she buys whatever she wants/needs but this year she is moving out so that would make her the easiest and Mike because he doesn't really say he wants anything (except for a truck but I can't buy that- so glad I don't have him this year!).

9. Easiest person to buy for? The boys- Big A wants everything, even if he already has it.

10. Worst Christmas gift you ever got? I can't think of one.

11. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail, Grandmas and Grandpas need the snail mail and really I enjoy getting snail mail too but I LOVE good emails.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Elf, of course.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? After Christmas. We know who we have from my family because we are on a rotating schedule. I am constantly thinking about what to get the person/family I have.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? No.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Christmas Eve Mexican Fiesta and Mom's sweet rolls and Bryan's Dad's homemade candy (I can't remember if he is still making that though).

16. Clear lights or colored on the tree? Both but we do colored on tree, clear outside. And I can't remember what our tree has on it so maybe it is different than what I put.

17. Favorite Christmas song? I LOVE most Christmas songs but if I had to pick one I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day and Picture A Stable (from the Primary songbook).

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? I love Christmas with family but I can understand why people start having their own traditions- very stressful to travel (and shop), keep things hidden from a very smart 3yo with a fabulous memory.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Maybe

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Either.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Morning. We opened jammies one year (Em- the red and white flannel ones and got slipper socks) and we opened those Christmas Eve but Christmas morning is present time.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? Commericalism.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!!

Gingerbread House

We decided to decorate a gingerbread house this year and start it as a tradition. I have decided this is going to be a hard tradition with a 2yo that LOVES candy. It was torture for him not to eat the candy, even though he was promised candy when we were done. He licked one and I caught him before he could put it back in the bowl, so he got one. A little while later, he tried it again but I caught him and made him eat it. Then Big A started sneaking candy but by then we were almost done decorating so I gave them a couple pieces each. While Bryan and I assembled the house (we decorated then assembled), I turned on Polar Express with promises of Hot Chocolate when we were done. Lil A keeps telling me "house" and I keep telling him "you can eat it later." We decided after making it and seeing how hard it was for them to keep their hands off it during the photo shoot that we would let them eat a little bit at a time (starting in a week though). I am glad Bryan decided that we needed the kit because it was a lot just keeping the candy out of mouths, I can't imagine if I had made the gingerbread too. I am more impressed with my mom all the time.

*Sorry about the lack of postings lately but I have been reading Twilight and New Moon and y'all are lucky I didn't get Eclipse or else I would be doing these posts later.

10-2 Season

We went to the BYU-SDSU game on Saturday and, as always, had a fabulous time. My dad, sister Jill, brothers Mike & Matt, Bryan's parents and my little family went and it was great. In the first quarter, Jill & I were a little confused because we thought BYU was suppose to dominate. There were only a few Aztec fans near us but one was so loud (not rude just loud and had something going back and forth between some BYU Pacific Islander fans, so a little entertaining) I think he gives himself headaches. My friend Kelly was there, supporting her brother, and she came over to say hi during halftime which was fun. I think Jeff's uncle was sitting in front of us (yes I eavesdrop). The boys were throughly entertained by Papas, Nannie, Aunt Jill, Uncles and, of course, swinging on the handrail in the aisle. Overall it was a great game and I am glad we were able to go to 3 games this season, hopefully next year we will be able to go to more.

TAGGED- TWICE!

First for Abby, here are 6 random things about me:

1. I LOVE music. My favorite music is good music. I can handle almost any kind, which is funny because my husband doesn't like most of the stuff I put on CDs for myself.

2. I HATE staying at home all day. I feel much better if I go somewhere everyday, sometimes it is just walking to the mail box or moving the car out of garage but it gets me outdoors. I prefer to go to an actual place but I take what I can get.

3. I LOVE to eat out. But like everything, only in moderation. If I eat out too much, I don't like it for about a week and then I am ready to eat out again.

4. I LOVE going on trips. I enjoy our quick trips here and there but I have found a trend with our trips, we always visit someone- maybe that is why I like them so much.

5. I HATE rodents! I think they are disgusting and I would not be able to sleep if I knew there was one inside.

6. I LOVE when we have family movie night. The boys love to eat popcorn and cuddling on the couch and I like most animated movies which gives me a good excuse to watch them.

For Emily, 7 random things about me:

1. We have taught the boys to enjoy music. They still like the 2 kid CDs that they have but Big A's favorite song is a Coldplay song.

2. My favorite thing is to do is be entertained by my boys. I love when they play with each other (NICELY) and when they laugh together.

3. I LOVE CostCo's Berry Smoothie. Bryan, Mike & Dad went to Home Depot and brought us home some- delicious! Big A calls them "smoodies" which makes me giggle.

4. I am trying to go to all RS stuff because I am in Nursery, it gives me a good reason to go somewhere without the boys and I get to be around some pretty cool ladies.

5. I LOVE how much my boys enjoy being around family. Last week, the boys asked me every time we went somewhere, "are we going to Ga's house?" My response was the same "not until Wednesday night, when you are in your jammies." Or when we are at Sam's Club walking through the toy section "Kim has that. And Kim has that." (referring to the teeter-toter and the jungle gym thing) which is usually followed with "Kim has Snowy, she my favorite." (Snowy is their dog and it is the ONLY dog Big A will let near him)

6. I have recently realized how hard being a stay-at-home mom is, but more importantly how rewarding it is. I realized that if I wasn't home with Lil A all day, I would not be able to understand his language and to know that he actually can speak- he is very stubborn and chooses not to speak. And when the doctor asks me how many words he can say, I can honestly say that he CAN say a lot but chooses to speak when he wants. I have made a request to my family, not to give him anything unless he asks for it WITH WORDS- not snuffing, snorting and pointing.

7. I LOVE that my boys wear hats. It is so easy for me to find them in a sea of little kids. At our playgroup, Lil A is among 3 other blonde boys- so there are 3 blonde boys and Lil A in his pirate hat. Lil A insists that his dad wear a hat too. If he sees Dad's hat not on his head, he brings it to him and says "Da, Hat! Da, Hat!" until he puts it on or has an explanation of why he is not wearing it.

People I am tagging: Misty, Deena, Janel, Erica, Brandy, Becky, Kelly
You can do either Tag but just make sure you tag other people too.

Cracking Up

My boys have been cracking me up lately.

1. Big A is calling Dum-Dum suckers Dummy-Dums.

2. Big A is helped Lil A get his shoes on today and while putting his shoes on him, asked him "where are we goin'?" (Just like I do to them- I just giggled while he was doing it).

3. Big A has been changing Lil A's soggy diapers and wants to change his poopy diapers but I have to draw the line somewhere.

4. Lil A copies everything and I mean everything that Big A does. For example, when Big A is saying the prayer, he copies him, Big A stops, tells him he can have a turn next and then proceeds to say the prayer with Lil A still "helping."

5. When you ask Lil A to "look for" something, he puts his hands at his eyes (like they are binoculars), looks around for whatever you asked for and then informs you it is "gone" (in a very concerned voice).

6. Big A loves to ask "whatcha doin'?" even if he knows what you are doing and if he just asked you 5 minutes earlier.

7. They love to help carry in things from the car. Whenever we go to Sam's or CostCo, they get upset when there isn't anything for them to carry in or when we run out of things for them to carry. They are surprisingly strong for how young they are. Today, we went to Stater's and Sam's and they helped both times- even though the Stater stuff was a little harder because the bags are hard for Lil A to carry (because he uses the handles and then the bottom of the bag touches the ground occasionally).

8. They put their pillows and blankets and bears under the table, get books and Big A reads to Lil A. They did this on Sunday before church and when Bryan informed them it was time to get dressed for church, Big A replied "we not goin' to church." They did get dressed and were excited to go to church.

9. After the opening song and prayer at church, Big A asked (very loudly) "we done?" Lil A and Big A continued to ask after every song "we done?" Being the Nursery leader, it is nice to hear that my kids like to be in Nursery - but really, who doesn't like Nursery? Play time, singing time, a short lesson, coloring, Snack time, maybe bubbles if there is time.

10. They like falling asleep in the "big bed." I don't know what it is but they can be in their room for an hour and then request to be in the "big bed" be in there for 5 minutes and be out. We are trying to stick to our guns and making them fall asleep in their own beds but sometimes I don't mind, especially if they fall asleep fast.

Busy & Boring

I have not been posting as I was for the past few weeks. This week has been a little crazy and boring for me. Monday, I actually went to playgroup. Tuesday, I had my friend over to "plan meals." Wednesday, Katie came down, we went to Red Robin for FREE lunch, ran errands, I went to quilting and Katie watched the boys (Bryan had Scouts). Thursday, went to park days and then Red Robin for FREE lunch with over 50 ladies including their kids from church. Now I am hoping the boys will take a nap, so I can take a nap too. But I need to go through the Nursery photos I have been working on for months now and print them off before Sunday- and get snacks.

Now I need to go and have BigA stop crying before I get a headache and then nap time for me!

I LOVE my Camera!

This is a close up of the bush that is behind LilA.
And this is a close up of a single flower-branch from the bush.
We were waiting for the helicopters to come and get water out of the Reservoir because they were doing it on our way home from church but we went home, came back and they had moved onto another water source. But the boys had fun playing and I had fun taking pictures and Bryan was embarrassed because a lot of people pulled over to see what I was taking pictures of.

Creative

I saw a link (thanks to a comment on Mandy's blog) to these posters that I thought were funny. I thought others might find it interesting.

The posters made me think about how funny this person is and how uncreative I am lately. Maybe it is because I have 2 toddlers who take all my extra energy or because I cannot remember the last time I was home for more than 5 days in a row or because I really am not creative. Anyway, I thought these posters were funny and if I was funny I would make them into posters and hang them up in Bryan's office.

Things Can Be Deceiving

I was emailed this yesterday and thought I would share it with the rest of you. Mostly because we saw a commercial for it was interested in it.

You may already know about this, but I just learned
the kids’ movie coming out in December called The
Golden Compass is based on a series of children's
books about killing God. Please follow this link, and
then pass it on. From what I understand, the hope is
to get a lot of kids to see the movie - which won't
seem too bad - and then get the parents to buy the
books for their kids for Christmas. The quotes from
the author sum it all up. Tell everyone about this
movie.
